For homemade pumpkin pie spice mix, let powdered cinnamon take the lead. Add dried ginger for lively zing, and nutmeg for sweet warmth, plus the cousins, allspice berries and cloves, for peppery essence. Ground mace adds a pungent note and rounds out our aromatic autumnal spice combo.
